She's Here!

Aunty Lucy and Sophie came back t our house after we's all been for a walk on the Campo together - then Aunty Lucy went home .......

AND LEFT SOPHIE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, yes, I know, Mum had told us she was coming to stay but WE DIDN'T BELIEVE HER! We thought she was joking.

But when we looked her bed was here, her food was here and her toys were here - she's here for the duration!

We all went out for a walk before bedtime and then we had to work out who was sleeping where. IT was like a game of musical chairs to start with but eventually Brandy and I slept in or normal place and Sophie found a spot on the carpet at the side of the bed where Dad sleeps (we're always on Mum's side) and we all went to sleep.

At 5 o'clock Sophie jumped up onto the bed but Mum told her to go back down and she did and before we knew it the alarm was going off to tell us it was time to get up 'cos Dad's playing golf this morning.

So, after we'd been out this morning we all had breakfast together -
and so far, it's not been as bad as I thought it would be. At the moment as I write this she's underneath the desk asleep - maybe it'll be OK, I wonder when Aunty Lucy's coming for her?

Whizz, another week gone.

Our visitor has gone back. Life is back to normal. My leg is better but I limp occasionally for effect and a sympathy biscuit (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't). We have our next visitor stopping on Thursday night for a few days but we don't have to go to the airport - she's from right here in Terreros.

Sophie is coming to stay!!!!!

2 legs difficult, 3 legs possible, 4 legs better!

My back leg has been a real probelm for the last couple of weeks and Mum has kept telling me it would get better, but I was starting to think it wouldn't. Anyway, when we went out for our bed time walk last night I managed the whole walk on 4 legs. OK, I was limping a little bit by the time I got home but at least I was still walking on it, before I'd had to lift it off the floor and only use 3 legs, but that made my other back leg really, really tired.

Mum says I have to take tablets for another couple of days but that I don't need to go to the vets again. I hope I don't get the same problem in my other leg because if I did, and they were both bad at the same time, I wouldn't be able to go anywhere and I love going out.

We still only go for short walks, but we don't mind that at the moment 'cos it gets quite hot in the daytime now, infact Mum's given us a haircut this morning, she said it's our summer cut. She'll be giving us a bath next, she's like that! Haircut, brushing, combing, bathing, more combing - Mum, chill out!

Off to the Airport.

Mum & Dad are taking us to the airport tonight. We like going for rides in the car and it takes about an hour to get there. When we are there we are allowed to go in to the arrivals area to wait for our visitors. We see lots of people coming through the big doors and it's fun to see which of us sees the person we've gone to meet first.

Tonight, we are going to meet Glen, who's coming to stay with us for a few days. We haven't seen Glen since we left a year ago, so we're getting really getting excited!

An Update on Brinkley

Brinkley has been an absolute star this week. He takes his tablets as if they were treats, no need to hide them in bits of cheese or bacon bits, he just chews them up and swallows and waits for his reward - how many dog owners would like to have a pet that does that?

He has been very good about not going out for walks and has rested a lot. I think the increasing sun here has made it a normal adjustment to a slower pace of life for both pups, but it has been of benefit to Brinkley's leg.

We took them both down to the front yesterday for a short walk and then a drink in one of the local bars, they both love to sit and watch the world go by, very much like Neil and I - although we have discovered they are not keen on fizzy water, they prefer still (agua sin gas, por favor para los perros!) Brinkley does still have problems but not as often as earlier in the week. However, he does seem to adapted to a little jumping action with his back legs to save putting all his weight on his bad leg. It will be interesting to see whether he continues this action when his leg is fully recovered. In the meantime, we have decided not to take him back to the vets just yet and to see how much better his leg gets over the weekend.

Strangely enough, our Brandy has started to limp ocassionally, the same leg as Brinkley is having trouble with - I'm not sure with Brandy whether it's sympathy or just that he is laying on it on the cool tiles and it gets a little bit stiff until he walks on it, a bit like my joints if I sit for too long. Or maybe he's just jealous of the attention Brinkley is getting and sees it as a way for extra cuddles too!

A Jab in the Bum!

It was always going to happen, and yesterday it did.Mum took me to the vets for a jab in the bum! I have been managing very well on 3 legs when necessary, although I got very tired on walks but Mum hasn't been taking me too far because of the problem with my back leg, but she did tell me that if it wasn't better by Sunday she would take me to see the vet.

Well, the vet has said that one of the four ligaments that hold my knee cap in place is inflamed and effectively is shortened and pulled my knee cap out of place, so I need anti-inflammatories to mend it and let the knee cap go back.

They always start with a jab in the bum and then we have to have tablets, which I don't mind taking. I can take them as they are but Mum always wraps them in bits of ham - and who am I to tell her there's no need.

So I am on enforced rest and extra ham bits - no complaints from me!

Our Brandy gets the extra ham too - but hey, he's my bruv, I don't mind!
