A disturbed night!

My poor, poor pup!

Brandy is fairly laid back and when something is wrong he just takes himself into a corner and lays down to recover.

Brinkley is a different matter altogether. Last night he woke at 4am and found only 3 legs worked. He couldn't make his back right leg bend. It woke me and I realised his knee had popped out. I got up with him and encouraged him to walk on it until it settled back in place and after a few minutes it seemed better but Brinkley was definitely upset by it. I tried to encourage him to walk by offering him a biscuit but he didn't want one - now that is not like Brinkley, so I know he isn't feeling right. It did mean he had lots of cuddles last night and he fell asleep on my knee.

This morning his knee has popped out a couple of times already, so no walks for him today, he needs to have a day of rest to see if it will settle or we may need a trip to the vets for some anti-inflammatories, like Brandy had. To be fair Brandy's has settled down well and rarely is a problem these days.

It looks like both of them are going to have knee trouble as they get older, poor mites, but there is a 33% chance of a Cavalier having a luxating knee cap, I suppose we could be seen to be a little unlucky to have both of ours with the problem, but they were from the same litter, so maybe the risks were higher that they would both be prone to the problem.

In the meantime, lots of cuddles are planned.

Gosh, poor Brinkley. For him not to post means he is REALLY upset. Give him a cuddle from me, it might just help a little, who knows.

I was chatting last night with Julia who posts sometimes on EOS as Jules1. Julia had Shannon 6-ish & Millie 8-ish (two bitches) who travelled by car to Spain (near us) last September as Julia stayed almost three months. Since then she's bought Bailey, just a few months old now then she had Evie, another little girl. They've just recently had their rabies jabs & she's just found out that Bailey failed his, she's still waiting for Evie's to come back. She told me how much she has to pay for a repeat test, almost £200 I thnk she said. If Bailey doesn't pass 2nd go he won't be able to go to Spain September as he won't be able to go back to the UK. I know Brandy had to have a 2nd test, didn't he ?

Hi Aunty Janice, thanks for your cuddle, it really was a good one.

My leg is still a bit of a problem and last night I got really excited 'cos Mum said we could go for a little walk around the estate and my knee popped out and it really hurt me, I squealled!

Anyway, Mum says i've to have a quiest day today!

Our brandy had to have 2 rabies tests done (I passed first time!) and his second test came back fine. From what Mu says it;s all to do with the amount of anti-bodies our bodies develop and the DEFRA test level is very high but our vet in the UK said it is most unlikely for a dog to fail after a 2nd jab so paws crossed everything is OK for Bailey, 'cos it would be a shame for him not to come to Spain'cos it's really good here.
