Our Friend - Fifi

This is our friend Fifi (in the middle), she came for a walk in Sherwood Forest with us today and then stayed the afternoon while her mummy went to a meeting, she lives near us and we often see her when we go for a walk around the estate but this is the first time she's been in the car with us.

She talks a lot, all the time. Her mummy said she'd never been with anyone before and she would drive us mad with her talking. But she didn't 'cos after she'd walked for a while she settled down and was just enjoying our walk.

Her mummy said she'd never taken her to a cafe before 'cos she drives everyone nuts with her talking, doggy talk of course. At the end of our walk we always go to the cafe so mum and dad can have a coffee. We always lay down under the table after we've had a drink 'cos we're tired after our walk.

Fifi did the same and everyone thought we were really cute.

When we got home we all had a sleep and then helped mum in the garden.

When Fifi's mum came to collect her she couldn't believe how good she'd been and said we must be a good influence on her.

I think our Brandy had a word in her ear.

Mum says our Brandy's the clever one.....what does that make me?

Dad thinks I've gone deaf, mum's not so sure, she thinks I'm just throwing a deaf 'un when it suits. I've been getting drops in my ears every day and I don't think it's making any difference. If they don't say anything interesting I don't bother whereas our Brandy reacts everytime they say anything.

Take yesterday as an example. There were 4 big pigeons in our garden. Me and our Brandy were barking at them through the big glass doors. I heard Mum shout, 'why don't you go out your little door in the kitchen to chase them from the garden?' Our Brandy did just that, followed instructions to the letter. Me, I couldn't be bothered, it was drizzling outside, I'd rather stay in where it's warm and dry and carry on barking in comfort. Mum says our Brandy's dead clever 'cos he understands everything she says, Dad says I'm deaf.

I say our Brandy's damp & dirty and all hot & bothered.

I say I'm warm & dry and getting away with not doing anything I don't want to do.

Who's clever now!

Do Dogs Get Hayfever?

A week ago Mum suddenly started wiping my eyes, like all the time.

She said they were gungey! What on earth does gungey mean?

It didn't hurt but it seemed to worry Mum.

Then she started talking hayfever and allergies. Mum has asthma from all types of pollen, Dad has hayfever from tree pollen.

Turns out I may have allergies to pollen. Not good when we walk through fields and down country lanes every day.

So now, I take tablets everyday - antihistamines. Mum takes them, Dad takes them and now I take them.

Our Brandy thinks he's missing out but he's the only one in the family that doesn't have allergies.

At least I don't have gungey eyes anymore!

Getting Braver!

My and our Brandy are not very brave when it comes to other dogs or little people. We don't like Black & White dogs, we don't like big dogs and we don't like dogs that bounce about a lot. We don't like people under the age of about 20, again they tend to be too bouncy.

But, I think we're getting braver with other dogs. I normally let our Brandy check things out and if it all looks ok, I go and check things out for myself but always keep one eye on where Mum or Dad are incase of trouble.

We always like dogs who are the same colour as us, after all we're okay, so it makes sense to assume they will be too but recently I've started to like little white dogs. We meet a lot of what Dad calls Westies. I really like them. They can tend to be a bit jumpy but there's something about them that makes me want to go and say 'hello' and I don't wait for our Brandy to check them out first.

This is what they look like
Cute aren't they?

I can't say I'm any more keen on little people, like Cadey though. We met quite a few while we were out today and they always grab at us and chase us, just like Cadey does. Still, we're always quick enough to get out of the way. They have a lot of growing up to do before they catch us!

Spare me the excesses of Christmas

A picture diary of our Christmas:

Our Brandy was up early checking out the presents - honest, it's our Brandy not me!

Eventually Dad came downstairs and helped us open our presents.

And, of course, our Brandy got the toy.

And he was happy with that, until the treats got opened.

But we were okay, Cadey had bought us one each. Good thinking!

After eating all that - yes, I managed it. Well, in 2 sittings, Mum took it off me halfway through!

We need a long walk in the woods.

And we got to see Aunty Dawn again, she gives great hugs!

Infact, we got to see everyone.

So now, I just want to sleep it all off please!

Wake me up when it's Turkey time.

Lots of Walks and Stuff - but no more chicken runs!

AD and Unc. have hardly left us alone for 2 weeks. We've been everywhere with them. We've had loads of lovely walks in parks, we've been to the pub loads of times too - Mum and Dad don't take us to the pub!

We got quite mucky sometimes, but it was ok, we still look cute.

This is me after a good day out.

We had a great time with AD and Unc. and can't wait for Mum and Dad to go away again!
